Your Valentine's meal requires very little preparation. Rockfish Chef Director, Kirk, has recommended cooking methods, timings and serving suggestions. We've highlighted the handful of additional ingredients required to create the perfect meal.
Your lobster has been cooked by our Rockfish chefs as soon as it was landed and blast frozen to seal in the freshness and flavour.
Using a sharp knife, split the lobster in half starting with the tail, then the head. Use the back of the knife to crack the claws.
Plate your lobster on a sharing platter, with a couple of lemon wedges and a little fresh parsley. Serve your garlic mayonnaise on the side.
We recommend adding a fresh salad (salad leaves, finely sliced red onion, cucumber - dressed in olive oil, lemon and sea salt) and some crusty bread.
Pre-heat your oven to 220 degrees celsius.
Drizzle 2 tbsp of olive oil and a pinch of sea salt into a roasting tray. Add the turbot, drizzle a further 2 tbsp of olive oil and another pinch of salt, then massage into the fish.
Put in the oven and cook for 10-12 minutes. Meanwhile gently melt your garlic butter in a small saucepan over a low heat.
When your fish is cooked, gently peel off the skin, add some additional chopped fresh parsley (optional) to your garlic butter, then simply plate up and pour over the garlic butter.
Kirk recommends serving with a side of spinach (cook gently in a pan with a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon) and minted new potatoes (boil and drain your potatoes, add a pinch of salt, olive oil and chopped fresh mint, toss and serve)
Add olive oil and a pinch of salt to a roasting tray. Place the Dover Sole on the tray and drizzle olive oil and salt - ensure the fish is coated before placing under the grill at 220 degrees celsius for 8-9 minutes (check at 5 minutes and baste with the olive oil).
Gently melt your garlic butter in a small saucepan over a low heat. Once your Dover sole is cooked, plate up, pour over the garlic butter and add a sprig of fresh parsley.
Kirk recommends serving with fresh green beans (cook in boiling water, then drain and add to a pan with a little olive oil, finely diced onion and chopped fresh rosemary) and minted new potatoes (boil and drain your potatoes, add a pinch of salt, olive oil and chopped fresh mint, toss and serve).

The MSC certify fisheries and stamp them with their seal of approval - the blue fish - to show that they are operating using sustainable fishing practices.
All of the seafood on our restaurant menus and available on the online seafood market either comes from MSC certified fisheries, boats we know well who land their catch in Brixham, or accredited freshwater farms.
You may have noticed on our restaurant tablecloth that we mark dishes with the official MSC logo, where the fish has come from an MSC certified fishery, so that you can be sure what you're eating has been sourced sustainably.
Hake as a specie is great sustainability success story in the south west. In the 1990s it was undervalued meaning that it was arriving on the market in poor condition. The fishing community saw the potential in this fantastic species and worked hard to get MSC certification for the fishery, and hake stocks have now recovered to over double their low point. Try Mitch's hake with fennel salad and crunchy salsa verde.
]]>Sustainably caught in pots off the South West coast, our whole Devon lobster is cooked by our chefs on the day it lands just moments from the quayside, and sent out to arrive at your door the following day. It doesn't get much fresher than that.
Wonderful quality brown crab are found in abundance in South West waters, and we believe offer some of the most delicious crab meat in the world. They are perfectly in season at the moment, so make sure you grab some to enjoy while they are at their best.
These sustainably sourced king prawns are firm, juicy and sweet. Our chefs have cooked them to perfection, so they will arrive with you ready to eat - simply remove the shell and tuck in right away.
Great with nothing more than crusty bread and a dollop of mayonnaise, this hand-picked crab claw meat from South West Brown Crabs can also be used in a variety of seafood recipes.
This deliciously flavoursome and creamy brown meat has been cooked and hand picked from the shell by our expert team just metres from where the crab is landed on Brixham quayside. Enjoy in a variety of recipes, or simply with bread and mayonnaise.

So if a summertime dip is on your list of things to do in Plymouth then a visit to Tinside lido is a must!
Let’s face it, the British summertime is not always reliable. So if it’s looking a bit grey during your stay (and even if it’s not!) The National Marine Aquarium is one of the best indoor things to do in Plymouth. It’s the UK’s largest Aquarium and is home to 4000 ocean species. The aquarium is also home to the Ocean Conservation Trust - a charity dedicated to connecting people with the Ocean.
Just a short walk from Plymouth’s city centre is this bustling Barbican - here you’ll find cobbled streets of cafes, independent shops and plenty of al fresco dining options. Take a scenic stroll across the footbridge and you’ll discover the hidden gem - Rockfish - serving up fresh fish, daily with stunning views over the marina. Every day this summer, kids can enjoy FREE fish and chips for every adult who orders a main meal. Next door is our takeaway where you can simply turn up and enjoy fish and chips either on our outdoor deck, or to take away. So you can tick another ‘must do’ off your ‘things to do in Plymouth’ list - sample some fresh, local seafood by the sea! Make sure you book a table to avoid missing out.
Every year in mid-August the best-of-the-best in pyrotechnics arrive in Plymouth to battle it out in the British Firework Championships. It’s one of the best free things to do in Plymouth during the summer. Why not make an evening of it (and reserve some of the best seats in the house for watching the show) by booking a table at our Rockfish seafood restaurant on Sutton Harbour.
An iconic landmark on the South West coastline, Smeaton’s Tower was originally built on the Eddystone reef, but was moved brick by brick to its current location on Plymouth Hoe in the early 1880’s when the rock it was standing on began to erode. For spectacular views over Plymouth Sound and the city you can climb to the lantern room.
If you’re looking for cheap or free things to do in Plymouth, then look no further than The Box. Entry to this fantastic museum, art gallery and archive is absolutely free! Visit their website to see what summer exhibitions they have on and plan your visit.
If you’re ready for a break from the city, then there are some spectacular beaches just a short distance from Plymouth, including Wembury Beach, which is just a 25 minute drive from the city centre. This sandy cove is the perfect spot to swim, sunbathe and watch the world go by. It’s a dog friendly beach all year round, and if you’re feeling active, it’s great for surfing too.

Kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, a boat trip, swimming…when the conditions are good, we recommend getting out on the water in whatever form possible, and soaking up the mental and physical benefits of being in or on the sea. Of all the things to do in Exmouth during the summer, enjoying the miles of golden beach and beautiful blue waters should be high up on your list.
For one of the most memorable things to do in Exmouth, enjoy a boat trip along the Exe Estuary. Award-winning Stuart Line Cruises offer a whole array of trips including 1 hour round trips, full day tours and evening cruises. Watch out for special one-off events on board too, including live music, fish and fizz, and geology day trips.

Enjoying fresh seafood overlooking the water should be top of your list of things to do in Exmouth this summer, and at our seafood restaurant in Exmouth you can’t get much closer to the water. This monkfish recipe incorporates our delicious Rockfish lime pickle butter, and a hint of spice to create a warming and tasty seafood supper.
Perfect for sharing, this whole monkfish recipe, is simply baked in the oven, and topped with Mitch's zingy chilli, tomato and lime salsa.

For things to do in Weymouth with the kids, head to the Sea Life Centre. Discover the World’s smallest penguins, explore rock pools for starfish and anemones, say hello to hundreds of species in the aquarium, and play outside in the splash zone and pool.
Not only is Weymouth Beach recognised regularly for its cleanliness and safety, it has consistently been recognised as one of the top beaches in the UK by the Marine Conservation Society Good Beach Guide and TripAdvisor. You can also enjoy all the activities you’d expect from a traditional seaside town. Things to do on Weymouth Beach include donkey rides, catching a Punch and Judy show or hiring a pedalo. The beach often plays host to festivals and sporting events too so keep an eye out for these.
Weymouth beach is perfectly positioned to be sheltered from the elements, so you can enjoy a safe and relaxing swimming experience. It’s one of the best things to do in Weymouth in the summer time. Away from the bustle of the town, there are also beaches at Greenhill and Preston, which we recommend exploring. Both are shingle as opposed to Weymouth’s sandy shores, but equally scenic and a little quieter.
After a day exploring, or swimming, head to the esplanade to enjoy a delicious dinner overlooking the water. Our Weymouth Rockfish seafood restaurant serves up wonderfully fresh seafood, simply cooked, and served with seasonal sides.

Not to mention some stunning architecture. It’s also home to the Exeter Phoenix - a diverse art space and music venue. Cross the High Street from Gandy Street down another narrow street and you’ll emerge on beautiful Cathedral Green.
Take a leisurely walk along the River Exe, and then loop back to Exeter’s buzzing quayside once you’ve worked up an appetite. You’ll have plenty of choice of places to grab a drink or a bite to eat, and soak up the atmosphere. Exeter’s Rockfish Restaurant is located at the heart of the city’s Piazza Terracina, with views over the river. Watch the world go by from the restaurant or on the sunny terrace as you enjoy freshly landed, sustainable seafood - between 3-5pm each Saturday during the summer we'll have fantastic live music in our outdoor space too. Make sure you book a table if you’re visiting Rockfish Exeter this summer.
If you’re looking for more energetic things to do in Exeter, then the quay is the perfect spot to try your hand at Stand Up Paddleboarding (no waves!). If you’d prefer a potentially less wobbly ride, hire a kayak or canoe for your water adventure. Whichever you choose, you’ll be sure to have a great time and get a different perspective of the city.
For days when the weather’s looking a little ‘iffy’, you’ll need some rainy day things to do in Exeter up your sleeve, especially if you’re travelling with little ones. The award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum should be top of your list. The 16 galleries and three exhibition spaces offer plenty to explore. Visit their website to see what exhibitions they have on this summer and plan your visit.
If you need a your coastal fix, head to popular Exmouth. If you hop in the car, it will take you 30 minutes to reach the sandy shores of this lovely seaside town. Or, you can follow the Exe Estuary trail on two wheels (bike hire is available on the quay) for a wonderfully scenic journey that will take you approximately an hour (depending how many times you stop to admire the scenery). You’ll find another cracking Rockfish Restaurant here too! With uninterrupted sea views and more delicious fresh fish.

Whether you’re looking for a fishing excursion, a wildlife safari, a high speed boat ride, or a leisurely ferry crossing to the fishing town of Brixham, there’s a boat trip for everyone. Head to englishriviera.co.uk to get boat trip recommendations.
If you’re yearning to be in the water rather than on the water, you won’t be short of choice either! For the adrenaline seekers there’s coasteering, water-skiing and jet-skiing. Or for something a little gentler, there’s paddleboarding, kayaking or open water swimming. Whichever you choose, you’ll have an incredible time exploring the stunning Torbay coastline.
Embracing the English Riviera with a trip to the beach should be top of your list of things to do in Torquay. There are plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from along Torquay’s coast, from the well-known Torre Abbey Sands near the town’s bustling centre, to the lesser known coves such Oddicombe and Maidencombe. Just a 20 minute walk from our Rockfish seafood restaurant in Torquay is popular Meadfoot beach. This pebbly beach has some fantastic rock pools to explore, plus you can hire out paddleboards too. It’s the perfect spot to spend the day before heading back to town for some fish and chips.
If you’re looking for an evening activity, then look no further than the Princess Theatre. It’s located right on the seafront, so you can’t miss it. We recommend arriving early, grabbing some dinner nearby, and taking a scenic stroll along the pretty promenade to take in the views.
One of the best (not to mention free!) things to do in Torquay is to walk some of the breathtaking coastal path. The Torquay coastline is part of the South West Coast Path which runs along the entirety of the South West of England - a total of 630 miles. We’re not suggesting you walk all of it, but you could pick it up in Torquay and walk as much or as little as you like - we can guarantee that you’ll enjoy some spectacular views.
There is no better way to round off a day at the beach, or on the water, than with a delicious seafood dinner, or fresh fish and chips, overlooking the sea. Located right on the harbourside, our Rockfish seafood restaurant is the perfect spot to do just this. Settle down in our restaurant or on our terrace, with views over the harbour and out towards the sea, and enjoy some wonderful, sustainable seafood landed, just a few miles down the road in Brixham, that very day.

As with all wild fish, you can never guarantee supply. That's why we've introduced three delicious choices of fish and chips to our restaurant menu, including incredible line caught Icelandic haddock, prime Brixham hake & delicious bay whiting.
