About Lyme Bay Mussels
Mussels are filter feeders so their quality is closely associated with the environment in which they are grown. Our mussels are grown by Offshore Mussels in the open sea off the coast of Brixham in Lyme Bay, where they are constantly supplied with clean, plankton-rich oceanic water.
Rope grown mussels are acknowledged worldwide by environmental groups as being a highly sustainable form of seafood production and are recommended as a ‘best choice’ or ‘super green option’ in the Marine Conservation Society ‘Good Fish Guide‘.
These South West mussels are incredible cooked with white wine, garlic and chilli, or tossed through pasta.
Lyme Bay Mussels
With no more fresh fish markets now until after the bank holiday, the work doesn’t stop here in Brixham. The fleet will continue to fish through the weekend and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the landings as the boats come and go from the harbour.
Our buyers will be watching the market carefully, ready to step in and select the very best fish as it appears. It’s one of the great rhythms of the quay, and something we never take for granted.
The first fresh market will be back on Wednesday 8th, with all orders placed between now and then delivered that day. We look forward to bringing you another round of exceptional seafood, straight from the boats to your kitchen.
