The Rockfish Litter Free Sea pilot project in Brixham will enable employees, customers, partners, and the wider local community to get involved clearing plastic pollution from the harbour to enhance its natural beauty and improve marine habitats.
Brixham is the spiritual home of Rockfish and the biggest fishing port in England. We believe that businesses have a purpose beyond profit. Beyond restaurants and seafood we want to connect its people to a wider good, a mission to make small differences in the areas the business operates in and set the tone of how a small business can be a progressive one and that every small action can make a difference to the world we live in and the people around us.
The heart of Rockfish is built on sustainable seafood and we want our customers to feel positive about harvesting the marine environment whilst caring for it – this project is one way of demonstrating their commitment to supporting this.
Together with our community partners Till the Coast Is Clear, and the Devon Environment Foundation, we will collaborate to trial exciting, new, experimental initiatives to capture and clean up the plastic pollution that collects in Brixham harbour – devising a learning experience that will inform future Litter Free Sea projects in other Rockfish coastal locations, to be rolled out later in the year.
